We are now on the process of fitting the front sheet metal….fenders, hood, etc. We want to make sure everything fits like it should. Most classic cars need some extra attention when it comes to how well the panels fit together. The gaps usually need work and the panels need to be aligned correctly. They don’t fit as well as the cars made today. So if you see one that does fit well you know it has been worked over by someone.

This is the inside brace of the left front fender. We had to remove the lower part of the brace to repair the outer skin of the fender. After the fender was repaired we repaired the rust in the brace and welded it back in.

This is the rear hood brace. It had broke apart into two pieces. Shown here repaired and ready to be re-installed back on the hood.

The sheet metal fit and alignment work.

Working on the door to fender gaps and also hood to fender alignment. This step is real important. When the parts are removed for the final body work and paint, you know they will fit back on the car and line up like they should.

That’s really a good job! My husband would pay to have something like this to do…he loves to restore old cars.
