My New Tool….TM Technologies Air Hammer Forming Machine

I bought the plans for this tool several months ago and I am finally about done, with the exception of purchasing the dies. The frame is almost all welded together now, I still have a few areas to finish. I need to final weld the plates for the hammer and base and also the last two leg caps. I am dying to try this thing out. This air hammer will shape sheet metal into various shapes depending on the dies used.
It’s mostly made out of 4″ x 6″ x 1/4″ steel tube. The pieces of the frame were drilled before it was welded so that the entire frame could be filled with sand to absorb the vibration. I am guessing it weighs 300 to 400 pounds. I would like to get the frame cleaned up and painted before I start using it. I know if I don’t get it painted now, it probably will never get done. Visit www.tinmantech.com for parts and plans to build your own and also see some of the sheet metal that has been shaped with this tool.

These are the plans that I purchased from TM Technologies.

Here is all of the pieces of metal after cutting them to the correct lengths.

The side view of the air hammer.

The upper hammer shown is a “heavy” unit. TM technologies sells four different air units ranging from “medium” to “extra very heavy”. The upper clamp was designed for quick hammer changes.

Sand in the frame will keep the vibration to a minimum.
