Rust Terminator

The guys at Rust Terminator sent to me a gallon of this stuff to tryout and post the results for you to see. Rust Terminator is a liquid rust remover. What’s really great is that it’s biodegradable, non-toxic, non-flammable and environmentally safe. It also has a very low odor. Best of all it works exceptionally well.
It works great for any part that you can submerse in the liquid and let sit for a while. I first dug up some rusty bolts to try out. I let them sit in a can of Rust Terminator for a few days. I checked them after 24 hours and they still had some rust in the deep pits so I let them sit for another day. Here are the results.

Before: 1969 Camaro body mount bolts

The results after sitting in Rust Terminator.

The next test I did was with a rusty hubcap off of a 1949 Ford. The rust on the inside of this hubcap was badly pitted. I thought as rusty as this was, it would really put it to the test. It also took more than 24 hours but the results were worth it.

About once a day I would walk by the workbench that this was sitting on and stir it with an old paint brush.

This is after soaking for about 3 days.

Here is a close up of the rust and how clean it turned out. For an environmentally safe product I am impressed. This is a great alternative to sandblasting or using a product that contains phosphoric acid.

I’m actually pretty excited about this. I really want to just leave my whole chassis in a big tank of this stuff for a few days. It’d simplify my life so much.

Not a bad idea really. There used to be a few companies like Redi-strip that would acid dip your entire car for you. I’m not sure if they are still even around. Probably because of the chemicals.

I looked at the Rust Terminator website and you can purchase it in 55 gallon drums for large projects. There must be someone using it in large tanks for de-rusting stuff.

    Jesse,

Hopefully in the near future we at Rust Terminator will be able to offer a full dipping tank for entire car chassis without the negative affects of an acid bath. It is in the works.

If you have any questions please call.

    Thanks
