I have always liked automotive art. I have #466 of Jack Juratovic’s “Road and Track” and also some prints by Robert Williams. The first time I saw Nicola Wood’s painting of the 1939 Delahaye Type 165 Cabriolet, I was surfing the internet looking at pictures of Figoni & Falaschi coach built cars. The Figoni & Falaschi designed cars are some of my favorites. I will post more on them later. Nicole Wood’s painting “Delahaye in Death Valley” is probably one of my favorites of all time. The sand dunes in the background are perfect as well as the woman with the flowing dress and her leopard. It also amazes me how she captured the reflections of sunlight on the car. I just hope to someday own a copy before they are all gone.

Here is what she said about the painting.
“To me, you can’t just get past the beauty and sensuality of this 1939 Delahaye,” says Nicola Wood. “Originally built for the World’s Fair in New York, the present owner granted me the opportunity to photograph it. Wanting to turn this Delahaye into a major work, the choice of background became an exciting challenge. I decided to drive up to Death Valley with a friend, where we climbed 700 feet up into the untouched, rippling sand dunes. The view at the top was breathtaking, and I knew immediately that I had the perfect backdrop. It was one of the most unforgettable days.”
