Rubber “U” Glass Channel

A lot of the older cars had a “U” shaped rubber seal that went around the edge of the rear window and quarter glass. When the interior garnish molding was installed it applied enough pressure so that the rubber seal pressed up against the window opening in the body to keep the water out. At least that is what they intended. A simple trick to help keep the “u” channel on the glass and also to keep it from wrinkling in the corners is to glue the ends of the rubber together with Krazy Glue. I have tried other “super” glues but Krazy Glue works the best. I usually put the seam at the top of the glass. Use a sharp razor blade and make straight cuts so that the pieces fit together nicely.

This glass is for chopped ‘26 Ford Model T. To get the wrinkles in the corners to go away, I cut the rubber about an inch short so it was slightly stretched.

Hi, That U shaped rubber seal seems to be exactly what I’m looking for. Do you know where I can get it?

    Thanks
