If you are looking to restore your car and do all of the work yourself then you will need to know how to do sheetmetal repairs. To have great paint work on your car it needs to have a good foundation and that starts with the metal preparation. Body and paint work without the proper metal repairs is just waste of time and money. With the high cost of body and paint supplies you really can’t afford not to do it right. Can You?

There are tons of sources out there for metal working. This is just one of many great sources. This book contains information about hand tools, making patterns, hammer forming, welding, and sheetmetal. No, you don’t have to know everything in this book but if you need help in a certain area then this book comes in handy. I bought this book several years ago. I have relied on it several times. My copy is full of papers and notes that I have stuffed into it. I highly recommend it if you are planning on doing any of the metal repairs on your car.

Even if you aren’t doing any of the repairs yourself. It still is a good idea to know a little about it. If you are taking your car to get the metal repairs done at least you will be able to communicate with the shop a little better. Especially if they say ” We’ll use some 048 cold rolled steel and run it through the slip roll before we cleco it together and then we’ll put a few rosette welds in it”

Here’s my copy. Get yours HERE or HERE
